I think this was the first song that ever made me cry.............. I saw him live at Cambridge Corn Exchange round about this time, but hadn't heard this before until then. It's from his debut album Silverbird which had just been released.
Silverbird would get my vote as the most underrated album of all time - in fact, most people don't even remember it.

Superb video of this classic. Looks like they are 'miming' but doesn't sound like it (if that makes sense). Alan Price's organ solo is as good as any guitar piece you'll hear (and this was 1964, i.e. pre-guitar solos).
