Goodbye Mr Chips RIP Peter

Just in case you're wondering, Peter O'Toole dies at The Wellington Hospital in London today.

Michael Parkinson said it was hard to be too sad about the news of his passing, and smiled as he said: "Peter didn't leave much of life unlived, did he"?

RIP

An immense character and his portrayal of Lawrence of Arabia was brilliant.

Oh that is so sad. I really admired the actor and the man. I've read and enjoyed his biographies. I love his portrayal as Lawrence of Arabia and other excellent roles.

A whole new generation also got to know of him as the food critic in Ratatouille, the animated movie.

His distinctive and eloquent voice will be missed.

No, he did not leave much life unlived!

OK - a question: after Lawrence, what was his next best or most famous role?

Agree.Loved him.x
Two fantastic Celtic actors, his voice rivaled Burton's
Gorgeous velvet tones.

Burton travelled down the melancholic Welsh dirge apropos Thomas whereas
O'Toole enjoyed the rich chestnutty banter of his adoptive Irish fan club.

Go with God.

'Hellraisers' is well worth a read. It's about O'Toole, Reed, Burton and Harris.

'Legends' is a word used all too often in todays celebrity-obssessed world, but those four really are legends.

Now I know where one of the older posters on this bored (mainly in the Lounge these days) gets his name from.

I always wondered.
