Re: good movies
And why do British directors seem to handle 9/11-related subjects so much better than the Americans?

Re: good movies
Watched the original of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. Absolutely awesome! Most of you will need to get the subtitles of course as it in Swedish of course, but I highly recommend it!
I'm going to watch the Hollywood version tonight, and frankly I expect I'll be disappointed despite the higher profile actors...

There are English dubbed copies of all 3 original movies on piratebay
I think you will be a little disappointed... Rooney Mara was not as good as Lisbeth but it was still well done , it will be interesting to see what they do with the next 2.

Re: good movies
I watched all 3 of the original ones. Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth was superb.

I read the books last year. They are awesome, but i still reckon Jo Nesbø is a better writer...(I would say that since he is Norwegian and Stieg Larsson was Swedish of course)

Re: good movies
I have all three originals as well. Do you reckon I should watch the second and third before embarking on Hollywood then?

Re: good movies
i'm reconsidering my strategy now. perhaps follow through with the originals first. yeah i was impressed with the first one, and also how they didn't worry about not showing some of the more gruesome stuff out of fear of offending people...

The hollywood version is good but they are all meant to be swedish except Daniel Craig who doesn't do any accent at all, for some odd reason.

I like Wallander and Harry (books - don't like UK TV series of Wallander at all), but I really like Arnaldur Indridason's Erlendur - Jar City and the rest are great.... Scandi / Nordic / Icelandic thrillers are really good recently...
Loved Stieg's books and the original movies, but like Let The Right One In the US remake was very good, but not quite there in tone and casting. Craig is good, but he's not right as Mikael Blomkvist. Really excellent US version though....
