I totally agree with you. What the **** goes on in these peoples minds.
Another fitting punishment would have been to lock the sicko in a room with the parents.
If anybody touched my kids (when I have them) or anyone in my family, I better not find them. :curse:

"he suspected the kidnapper to be a male driver of a white four-wheel drive vehicle"
... well, that'd narrow it down!
Still, gosh... sick crimes, and unflinching punishment.

There is a reason why civilised societies stopped killing its citizens.

Well if it was meant to be a deterrent he wouldn't have done it in the first place. The USA is a prime example of where the death penalty does not work as a deterrent. The fact that wrongful convictions happen is reason enough not to have it anyway. I really don't think the UK wants to regress to the Dark Ages anyway.
The irony in the comments is striking as well. Daily Mail readers aren't too keen on Muslims but they seem quite keen on certain aspects of Shariah law...

A person was executed on the strength of circumstantial evidence ,allegedly expert evidence which is nothing more than evidence of opinion- and it appears some people believe their opinion was greatly flawed.Won't do the dead man any good now however.

Why crucify him after you've chopped his head off? If you're gonna crucify someone, surely you do that before the chop, else what's the point. Can't really see the dead guy being bothered by it.
Not that I'm saying I agree with the whole killing people thing...

I think for all those Mail readers who are spitting venom and saying it's too good for the man... well, they should stand beside the chap and watch every moment of whatever punishment they think is appropriate... *then* they can have an opinion.

I'm with Hello.Kitty on this. I too am reviled by the crime, although the evidence seems flimsy at best, which is not unusual in the Middle East. Interestingly his punishment is also given to those for armed robbery and drug trafficking...hardly the same crime. Doesn't doing this to the man make them as bad as he is to a certain degree? It seems to me that they too are blood thirsty murderers.
