Good happy hour suggestions

Re: Good happy hour suggestions
Swansea? Who wants to go there anyway? You're talking about drinking in some dump of a pub which doesn't compare to drinking a five star hotel in Dubai. Just not a fair comparison.
Of course, no one has to drink in a five star hotel in Dubai. There's always The York, Jockey's or Rock Bottoms. Fibber's for the slightly more discerning.

40-45dh/pint is really standard regardless if you're in bur dubai or downtown.

Of course, some people are just suited to the shabbier places...

Well 55 AED plus 20% tax (I noticed now gone up from 16%,a new 4% municipality tax has been added) is a bit strong for a bottle of beer in AD

Fairly newish hotel trying hard to attract business, they could corner a large part of the Reem week night market if they did it right. They won't get the teachers and all that lot going there at that money.
Bar was nothing special, no draught beers, you are always gonna notice the price when the place is not memorable

Not particularly whingeing, jus more surprised at their strategy (probably Egyptian management)

I see some weekend deals on especially Saturdays which are great value for money.
It's all still a captive market unless someone opens a Wetherspoons

Was in a hotel the other day and 5 people wanted food. Was told no food only room service.
I said ok, im happy to have the room service menu just put me in a conference room to eat.
Sir. You will need to rent the room for 2000dh
Ok... So your greed for 2000 means that you won't get the 1500 I was going to spend on the food...

Perry Blackwelder's at Madinat Jumeirah for happy hour Then La Tablita at the new Hyatt on the creek for tacos (and more drinks).
Blackwelder was filled with the post-brunch crowd but tolerable from a noise perspective. Decent drinks. La Tablita was more enjoyable (and very good tacos and margaritas) and good evening all in all. If you like Mexican, head down there. Maria Bonita in Umm Suqeim is overpriced crap.
Still want to check out Eloquent Elephant soon.

Not so much whinging, but I would never pay more than AED40 for a pint anywhere.....came out here to save money not to give it the big flash in shite holes like Barasti etc to drink with a bunch of tossers surviving from month to month paycheck!
