Girders this evening

Plan to be in there from around 5 this afternoon, and to watch Man U v Chelsea there, if anyone fancies dropping in...

(I know I didn't respond to Scamp's call for a meet up, but I've been off the booze for various reasons for the last few weeks, and tonight's my first opportunity to sink a few.)

You've got nerves of steel asking for a beer when you're not on the beer this wednesday thread. Truss you to try something like this.

Anyway, I can't I'm afraid, wrong end of town for me, unless you can beam me back to downtown?

Surely JBR is not too far away from downtown...

Still have no idea what this thread is about. What and where is Girders? Sounds like a construction site:confused:

New bar in Ocean View Hotel, JBR. Has a good buzz to it. Run and staffed by Brits.

Dunno what's come over me. That was a polite response to a stupid question by Lionheart. Must be the booze...

210 chips here gets you a 4 drinks :( and I always miss any happy hours as I work until 8 ish. Bad times when you only drink in the 'unhappy' hours.

G&Ts AED15, Peroni pints AED19. Happy hour usually 4-8, but all day Sunday. There were two of us, and the G&T drinker only had 4.

Good nibbles, too. Tried the whitebait: generous portion, plump and tasty. And the Scotch egg: was on the verge of inquiring if they'd forgotten my order after about 25 minutes--how long can it take to put a Scotch egg on a plate with a bit of garnish?-- only for it to arrive freshly cooked: yolk still gooey! Bloody good stuff, and reasonably priced at AED35 each.
