Gigs that have suprised/disappointed you
Suprised:
Springsteen - Wembley Stadium 1985
Totally blew me away and have been a huge fan ever since.
Disappointments :
Wasnt a disappointment as such, cos they were the support act to Springsteen at Hyde Park last year so didnt specifically go to see them, but jeez 'The Dave Matthews Band' were without doubt the worst, most annoying band / dross I have ever had the misfortune to listen to live

Terence Trent Darby was an amazing performer, much to my surprise...several years ago, mind you. Can't recall any disappointments but then I only attend concerts I really want to see.

Best:
Rose Tattoo - Nottingham Rock City, June 1981. Aussie rock n roll, metal, thrash, speed, a bit of reggae. Alas most of them are now playing at the great gig in the sky
Worst:
Black Sabbath - Leicester De Montfort Hall, May 1978. Dire. Ozzy by that time had been sidelined to the left side of the stage and couldn't give a f***
Mind you, the support band Van Halen weren't half bad

Surprised- Skunk Anansie- awesome- Skin has got an incredible voice and so much energy (perhaps induced somehow) but absolutely blew me away
Disappointed- The Verve, awful gig- were completely off their skulls, couldn't make a single word/noise out that Richard Ashcroft sang- it was just awful!

Pleasant surprise:
A concert at Stirling University in February 1971 with Elton John (before he became famous) and prior to his first hit single ‘Your Song’. He was only paid GBP 350 and had an audience of 1,100 students and the Student Union made a good profit (a pound per ticket !).
Slightly disappointing:
The Ultimate Event - 1989 in Melbourne Rod Laver Tennis Centre starring Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. - Frank kept forgetting his words to the songs - but good to see them in the flesh !

One of the best was Status Quo when they played at, I think, Hatfield Poly in early 1970s - before they were famous (infamous) for their 4-chord music. Also saw them at Wembley in the early 2000s - brilliant. Three generations all having a blast - including the guy in the row next to us who was having a great time on his air guitar - albeit half a beat behind the music
The worst - Elton John at Wembley also in the early 1970s. Basically just played Rocket Man album and it seemed to me that it wasn't just me that wasn't too impressed. The supporting band were fantastic though - The Eagles!!!! They got the entire stadium on their feet.

Body Count (Ice T in his metal phase) in the SFX in Dublin, must have been mid 90's. Never have I been at a gig that scared and fascinated at the same time. Rumours before the gig were that various punk bands were playing so you can imagine the reaction when some Travis style band came out as a support band.
This set the tone for the rest of the night, complete anarchy, fighting, stopping the gig etc great fun really. Finished up with Ice T bringing out his 2 year old son (Ice-berg ) to say to the crowd "f**k the police" ...mental
Honourable mention to Biohazard who collapsed the stage in the Tivoli after 3 songs.

Best - Kiss @ Edinburgh. Last of their 'make-up' tours and quite an interesting support band. Bon Jovi touting their first album..
Worst - Has to be The Shamen @ Motherwell. Only high point was the superb support act, Utah Saints....

Best - The Bolshoi (not the ballet) at Sussex University in Brighton, early 90s, and Beck at the Reading Festival some years later.
Worst - Oasis at Reading the same year - boring as hell, Liam just couldn't be bothered, arrogant tw*t.
