Speaking of Banks, I walked into Barclays on bank street the other day to ask about moving my account etc. etc..

What a waste of time they were, 6 months statements, salary transfer, 6 months banking before they even offer you a credit card, I mentioned about their "loan on day 1" even though I've been here a few years, and he told me, that means you get approved in a day, if I have all the right paperwork.

I ended up at Commercial Bank Dubai Dina Suleiman (sic) is the contact there, very helpful and sorted everything out that day with the minimum of fuss.

Man alive, they are useless though, the trouble I had just setting up my account, it took forever,

any documents I need to take?
No need for an appointment. You would need to show them the original letter/contract from your new employer and the new employer would have to give them a salary transfer letter.

If they don't give you the loan then send me a pm - I'll try and help you out.

wouldn't it be best to not say I'm leaving and just ask for a loan?

Most banks would require a "salary transfer letter" from the employer (unless you're working for the govt). Almost all banks, will in addition, conduct an employer verification - that is they call your employer and make sure you're still in employment...

This is standard practice.....check with HSBC anyway, since your loan amt is quite small and your salary has already been credited regularly...

Think the offer letter will suffice, however, salary transfer letter is a must. Check with HSBC though (branches are open on Saturday)
