Getting divorced

Re: Getting divorced
I won't comment on that.
By law you have to be specific in the petition, but that 'unreasonable behaviour' is what general documents will state.

Sorry to hear this as you know but I agree with you about being legal, especially here.

Re: Getting divorced
If you think you will get away with less than 4 or 5k no matter how simple then I would suggest this wont be the case, plus it's my guess that you will both need at least 1 court appearance so cost in a return trip. Divorce no matter how simple ain't cheap.

If you're doing it in UK save yourself a fortune and do it online http://www.divorce-online.co.uk/ From 45 sovs.
Very quick and efficient and you can do it all from here.

Re: Getting divorced
Was a good few years ago now. Essentially an amicable split, I emigrated.
She moved out though and wanted the cash. I kept the house for a while and paid her half the adjudicated equity at the time. Sold my car and that just about did it. I didn't have a lawyer, hers did everything. Lawyer wanted her to fight for more but she told her to forget it, equal split and no shit.
I forget the costs but a few hundred quid each, maybe 600 all up

Re: Getting divorced
Just spoke to my mate, he did same as me, he used a UK lawyer, they were mates and it all went through in 3 months - £1,800 for the lot, and this was last year.

Re: Getting divorced
go unreasonable behaviour (my first route and I was ****ing unreasonable so no dramas) The only person who gives a shit whats on your divorce papers is you as no one else will ever know or care to be honest
On line is good
All I wanted from the first divorce was a beautiful table that cost a fortune back then and I wouldn't pay that now for one but by the time the lawyers wanted a go I could have bought the same ****ing table new. Lesson learned though cant believe I am still bitching about that ****ing table after 15 years
All be over real soon, good luck, keep her sweet until the papers are through

Re: Getting divorced
Well unfortunately me and mrs Spugs are getting divorced. Luckily we're still really good mates and it sort of fizzled out and we now live apart and it's a bit dodgy if we have partners and we're married.
Now what's the best way of going about it? We've been quoted over here AED 21k, which I think is *****ing ludicrious bearing in mind I want nothing of hers and vice versa.
However we have a flat back home and we only started paying it off 6 months ago, we've been renting it and that's been taking care of the mortgage but it was interest only - so with the way the UK is I think it's in negative equity but she's going to sign it over to me.
Now any idea how long it takes if we use a UK solicitor? As we've been told over here they can sort the divorce, flat, the lot in about 2 months.
Any advice from our divorced ex pats?
Thanks.

I believe the UK route might be cheaper but longer. If you're not in a rush and it's no-contest that might be the best way.
Sorry to hear the news. It's tough even when it's amicable.
