Gardening Tip

For those lucky ones blessed with a garden or yard, please consider trying the umpteen nurseries near Dragonmart. We tried Yasmeena and bought some lovely plants and pots for half the price of the garden centres in town. A 50L bag of potting soil was Dhs15 only. Plants were from Dhs1 upwards. To find them, take the Hatta Rd with Dragonmart on your right. Go right at the first r/about signposted Dubai Academic City. After 500m go left at the next r/about. After 100m go left at a small r/bout and the nurseries are on the immediate right. I suggest you avoid the first (busy) one and take the dirt track to the right towards the many others. From there you can drive to Dragonmart via the Sewage Works exit and Dubai Textile City to avoid the long trek back on the main road if you are so inclined.

Only just discovered these?

There is also another large nursery literally behind Dragonmart near the sewage plant. It's sort of trade only, but they will let you drive through and are very helpful.

Anywhere is cheaper than Dubai Garden Centre!

Rather than schlep all that way for a couple of items, I go to a local mosque garden centre where I get great service and good prices. A little more expensive than the Al Awir places but a saving on time.
