The future of Bahraini politics...
I came across a brilliant post by a local blogger who has created a collage of all the guys running for parliament in the upcoming elections. The image illustrates perfectly why Bahrain will never move forward at a particularly great pace...

Wow that's a right Rogues gallery - Also, not a woman among them - I would say that the Mutawa'a have it in the bag

anyway, it probably doesn't really make a difference, the picture illustrates what kind of people get elected and i'm pretty sure a lot of bahrainis would say these guys don't accurately represent their views.

Re: The future of Bahraini politics...
You know its quite strange but after 9 months back here in Bh the place is really starting to get on my tits big time.
Met up with an old Shia mate of mine from last time round who was bickering about how they werent getting anywhere with the political changes they wanted (re no alcohol, pork, whores etc) and then broke into true form and commented on all the European white hairs he was busy ****ing whilst his wife and 4 kids were back at home.
I reckon the press is out tar all Shias with some bad press and any connection with Iran is enough to make you out to be a bad dude but Bahrain really is a ****ed up place at the moment. Either give them what they want and ban everything including an economic future or deport every Shia back to Iran regardless of how many hundreds of years they have lived in Bahrain
Even Saudi is making more sense than Bh at the moment

So how to fix the unemployment? Well, the unemployed seem to think that everyone is entitled to a job in public sector (similar to all gulf countries I guess) and there are lot of letters to Gulf Daily News surrounding this fact. However, the only way to really fix it is for the locals to get over themselves and take the job they can get (be it as a labourer or any of the other jobs currently done by expats). Will this happen anytime soon though? Probably not. Unfortunately.
