Hahaha..didn't know that one...so simple in hindsight !

Anyway off to bed now, so I'll leave you with a Greek song by a once famous Greek bouzouki player - Vasilis Tsitsanis.

The song is Sinesfiasmeni kyriaki (Cloudy Sunday) and is still sung when Greeks get together... it's about the time when the Germans occupied Greece. I'm learning it on the bouzouki.

If you are still uncertain about the market, why didn't you drip the money in?

Dollar/Pound/etc cost averaging works especially well in a volatile market.

(And I expect the US market generally to take longer to recover than most others.)

Is that the same bouzouki player that appeared in the Monty Python "Cheeseshop" sketch?

She said earlier that she expects a re-bound in the next few weeks. She's more confident in predicting the bottom of a markets than I am, but, within two weeks in terms of timing and I'd be a very happy boy as well (Not to mention very, very wealthy! ).

I'd rather go the other way and wait until I'm sure the bottom of the market has passed, thats just me though.

I wish everyone the best though, regarless of how you intend to use your money . There are some fantastic oppertunities out there in terms of investments even at current prices, if the markets finds support or not.

Unhappy Re: FTSE down 8% on opening...

So it looks like the government are going to take a big slice of banking shares of a few banks in exchange for capital, that should get people selling in the morning! Initial price jump perhaps and then a fall once the government has finished buying?

I'm expecting this to turn out badly, just as well I'm not a taxpayer in the UK or I'd be livid!

Edit: Upside is that if you have an account with RBS or HBoS it should make your accounts safe for the short term.

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on HBOS in the UK, uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 hours Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.

Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.
