I think he played Reading or somewhere a few years ago which I watched on the TV and he seemed a pretty good live performer with some quite varied styles.

Completely agree, bought my ticket for the Depeche Mode gig, but will definitely get my money's worth and go to Muse and Jay Zed too, the latter certainly someone I'd not normally choose to see.

I may go along for the race on Sunday but more interested in the music to be honest. I used to be a massive F1 fan back in the 80s and 90s, in the days of Senna, Prost, Mansell etc. but have kind of lost interest over the years as technology has advanced and (in my opinion) excitement has dropped.
I gather it has improved again, with more overtaking (?) but I've kind of lost interest now..

I think by just about any way you want to measure the stature of the three headliners of Jay Z, Muse and Depeche Mode - this is the biggest music line up the UAE has seen to date.
Of course you can't please everyone's taste, however, these three are festival headliners, huge selling acts.
When I think back to the gigs we were getting served up 10 years ago compared to this line up (plus the excellent Sandance line ups, more underground style clubs etc) I am really quite impressed...

I've had this argument about Depeche Mode many times recently with a friend - he thinks they're an 80s/90s band that have had their day and doesn't believe me when I tell him they're still massive, particularly when it comes to touring etc.

Would usually go and see Jay Z but it's on the same night as Alicia Keys so thats a no brainer for me. She's awesome. Also I'll probably be bored of sunning myself on a brand new 8 million GBP super yacht while quaffing champagne by the Sunday. F1 is just a distraction.

Sad thing is one of my favourite songs is Just Can't Get Enough. The video is amazing.
I agree, which is why this will be the first year I attend.

I've got a pal in AD who I could stay with to save taxi fares of 1800 on top of the beer tokens and tickets....possibility that the mrs Dad is over so maybe 3 days away is a good idea!

Fair enough. I need to look at it properly, Jay Z on Friday makes me want the three day tickets (or four if that's how they come) instead of just two dayers.

I don't think there is much difference between a 2 day and a 3 day. The Thursday is free!
