Fray bentos emergency

Got major craving of unknown origin, to tuck into a fray bentos steak and ale pie. Has anyone know if any shops in dubai have them ? Not seen in spinets or geant

Thanks in advance

I also am interested in the crispy, succulent, beefy, gravy..ee, moistureful deliciousness that is the Fray inst-madly good pies.

Seriously, no where around sells beef and kidney/mushroom/gravy pies around here. WTFF?

Park n Shop sell all kinds of pies, including their own shop made scotch pies. Just don't expect them to taste like mamma used to make.

I really wouldn't bother. Made the mistake of buying a F &B steak pie a few weeks' ago and it was disgusting. Full of claggy gravy and two miserable, chewy bits of fibrous matter which the tin described as beef. Next time I'll make my own - at least that way I know what I'm eating.

hnd is spot on. I had the same craving about a decade ago, and gave into it.

My memory was playing tricks on me. The pie was disgusting.

Tried park n shop and came out with bags of stuff but no fray bentos. Their dry wors was the worst I have ever tasted. The fray bentos will be perfect, I have a retro taste thing going on just now. Was supping Cointreau and lemonade in theA380 bar this week and I was 16 the last time I had that I think

Let's be clear. Nobody eats a fray bentos pie as they like the taste - much like eating anything from gregs - you eat them to satisfy some unmet need.

I'm with Tock - and will go and have some twiglets washed down with a Baileys and Peach Schnapps.

No no no - it must be salt & vinegar crisps with creme de menthe frappe.

Timely post...I had a visiting UK contractor bring me a Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pie and pudding over, arrived yesterday. Granted they don't taste as good as they used to but it's still bloody exciting, think I shall enjoy the pie this evening eaten from the tin with a 'jus' of tomato ketchup.

Awesome cheers

Let the pie fest begin. Just imagining scraping the stuck on bits from the side of the tin now. Heaven in a tin

there is never a time for a fray bentos emergency.

perhaps during a global apocalypse when there is no other food I might consider one but it would still require consideration

One of my colleagues used to travel back from Essex to Dhahran with a suitcase full of Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pies. I do not think he ever ate anything else. Limited culinary skills ?

The craving was satisfied this evening thanks to the good people of the bored and thank goodness for spinneys on al wasl road. Steak and kidney variety, it tasted every bit as good as when my dear mum used to throw one in the oven many decades ago.
Crispy on top, soggy below and then full of meaty goodness. All it missed was Sue Lorley reading the news and I was back in the 70's. Perfect

I haven't had a slice of proper English toast for over a month :( There's a possibility of one tomorrow, but unlikely. I want one with dripping on, one with thick butter and marmite, and one with butter and lime marmalade. Wholemeal, really crisp on the outside but still soft on the inside. And a proper cup of English breakfast tea. Please help.

If you lived in Dubai, I would say 5 mins in Spinneys at motor city and job done.
Washed down with a can of colt 45 whilst watching a bit of Angela ripon reading the news and a brand new ford Capri parked on the drive

I had fried bread yesterday, was utterly spectacular.
