A good list of over-priced and pretentious tourist-traps.

strange, the food is normally good there...

co durham boy has given a few special occassion places (don't agree on fire and ice, i found it pretentious crap, and rhodes is average) but for THE best steak in dubai, go to mjs in al qasr, you could go for cocktails in koubba before or after...or then there's the rivington grill, really fab with drinks at hive or leftbank...

Rivington Grill gets my vote too......excellent restaurant. Good food done well and the wine list isn't a complete killer.

Okku at the Monarch is quite good (don't recommend Ruth's steak house there....no good bringing me a rare steak on a 500 degree plate, two minutes in and it's well done!)

oh i agree, ruth's is awful...and yeah, i have my steak blue and it had to be sent back, not great when a steak place can't even cook the steak correctly...
