Manchester United's Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award. Gareth Bale, Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata complete the list.

Bale and Hazard are also nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, with Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere.

The usual Manure suspects as far as the BBC are concerned. Also, Hazard and Mata have played indifferently to say the least. Where is Michu? As for the Young Players Award, where on earth is Nastasic? Lukaku has played no more than a dozen good games. Ridiculous.

Carrick has been excellent this season, as has Mata. Bale is the only stand out candidate for me although he is tainted by all his diving

Someone like Ricky Lambert has had a superb season but of course he doesn't play for a "big club" so he doesn't get a look in

This is the so-called 'players' player' award........... i.e. voted by the players themselves. In my view, Mata is the only one that, from where I have been sitting, has never had a bad game all season......... and I can't see why Bale would be in the 'young' list as well........... nice to see Carrick get some credit - underrated by most fans at other clubs.
