I thought you fellows in the Gulf States might like to read this report:

why? everyone who lives here is very well aware of the fog...and the issues its had on all the uae airports...! although this is the first time fog to hit at xmas time. its usually much earlier or much later in the year.

Completely illegal under EU or US regulations. But I guess for UAE-owned Etihad rules are different while in Abu Dhabi.

About midnight there was 60kms of thick fog starting 35kms from Abu Dhabi towards the KSA border. Some cars tried to convoy it, some played Race'n'Chase through them.

Well, admittedly many drivers did immediately stop due to too high lights, non - working wipers, half blind or just incompetent drivers.
so, yes. Some of them very well might still be there ;) |

I was twice overtaken on a densely foggy Emirates Rd to RAK last week by red and white Sharjah Police SUVs speeding with hazard lights flashing but with no other lights on. Sets a good example.
