The Flooding Thread

Please report any major flooding incidents on here. So far, there has been yet more flooding at Dubai Mall, this time not from the Aquarium. Expecting water ingress to affect Dubai Outlet Mall too.

Obviously nobody else is interested. Anyway, Gulf News say that all schools in Dubai are closed today because of the heavy rain. Odd coz my little one is definitely at school today.

my villa is farked, the entire front of the place is apparently a thinly disguised sieve. with the window frames acting as a cunning piece of drainage channel.

Arabian Ranches seems to be OK. Went to Bur Dubai this am via Emirates Road and Al Ain road and all was clear (apart from a large puddle near Ras al Khor). Returned via SZR and Umm Suqeim and all clear there, too, apart from, again, some large puddles on either side of the roads.

Forecast seems to be ok until Monday pm through Wednesday pm when there's a chance of more rain and thunderstorms:

Traffic nightmare for workers going home to Sharjah nearly 24 hours after the rainfall. I was in Sharjah Industrial Area this morning, where the water was over 3ft deep in places. Why can't they spend a little more on improving the existing drainage system rather than building new towers and the like?

one of my colleagues took 5 1/2 hours to get home to sharjah last night, what a total sodding mare...you think they would sort this out in the 9+ months of the year when it doesn't rain...
