I dont get remakes, why screw with a good film. 99% Of Jim Carrey movies and 12 Monkeys - I always fall asleep during that.

I would have agreed with you on Jim Carrey movies.........

............. but I've seen - many many times - The Truman Show. I still find it utterly superb every time, a really compelling human story, and typical of Peter Weir that his directing brings out qualities in actors you didn't even suspect existed. Ditto his directing of Witness (surely Harrison Ford's best ever performance), The Year of Living Dangerously (Mel Gibson's only really good performance IMHO) and Dead Poets Society (Robin Williams, ditto).

12 Monkeys is a remake? I didn't know. Of what?

The Year of Living Dangerously is in my top 10.

And Linda Hunt who plays Mel Gibson's little helper in YoLD looks just the same now in NCIS:Los Angeles as she did back in 1982, amazing.

Mine are;

Pulp Fiction (I've fallen asleep every single time I've tried to watch it) Love it
The Godfather trilogy (again I fall asleep every time i try to watch it) Love them
Napoleon Dynamite (what a waste of time- wish I'd fallen asleep) Not seen
Harry Potter (no idea what all the fuss is about) Family/Children's films - books are better but mostly well made
Star Trek (Im a Star Wars girl) Neither for me. Too daft. Prefer original series
Gone with the Wind (I always nod off in exactly the same place) Love it - looks amazing for its time
Reservoir Dogs (couldn't even sit through 10 minutes of it zzzzz) Still haven't seen it

Someone mentioned Dumb & Dumber is another thread and I thought that was unbelievable stupid. I also don't like Withnail & I. It just annoys me, although I know many love it.

Yeah, I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with the film Withnail & I. he thought it was the best movie ever. I watched it a couple of years ago for the first time and thought it was rubbish. And I'm quite easy to please, really.

No one said it was a remake? And that should be one of the last movies ever to be remade right after Battlefield Earth.

Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest pieces of modern cinema ever .

Love Richard Griffiths in that.

Ah, thought you were saying 12 Monkeys was a remake. My mistake.

Sophies Choice and Last Man Standing.

Both films I have started watching about 3 times each, but never got beyond the first half hour.

The Green Mile. Ruined with the ability to breathe in diseases and breathe out locust things. Ruined that film. Don't get why.

Fear and loathing. Started watching it several times (even when drunk). It's mind numbingly shit. I don't get the appeal of it at all

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? What appeal are you talking about? Everyone hates it.

Sophie's Choice - annoying wench
Sleeping Beauty - annoying wench (plus lots of full frontal nudity, clinical and very unsexy)

What a bloody boring film. In fact, an international law should be passed that no film should last more than one hour and 45 minutes, with additional tax breaks and incentives made available if the film is over in one hour and 30 minutes.

I can't stand long films.

Sophie's Choice: couldn't watch past the point where she had to make the choice. Can't remember the quality of the film, and can't erase from my memory that scene, and must be 20+ years since I watched it.

Sleeping Beauty: either do something that's sensual, or porn. It was neither.
