Ferguson Retired. Greatest manager ever?

Re: Ferguson Retired. Greatest manager ever?
In the dark old days there used to be a semi-regular wee band of Leeds fans who’d travel up for Aberdeen v rangers games, in the Aberdeen end. I think it was a hangover from the Leeds v rangers euro game of the early 90’s which left some bad feeling, and as rangers were ‘aligned’ with Chelsea.

Absolutely correct. Having lives in Leeds 7 years always made me laugh when 'new' Leeds fans thought Manure were their big rivals and Manure didn't give a shit.

A different take on Fergie from a Scottish friend of mine:
'2 Champions League titles in 25 years? Neither of which they particularly deserved to win. A great manager in a shit league, pretty average on a European scale. As the richest club in world football, he should have done better in Europe. FACT!'

Countless other games where you could say the same thing .

Greatest manager ever? Must nominate Bill Shankly.
Remember (no you probably don't) when Liverpool were a mid-table Second Division side, with no money, and mostly journeyman players? (Don't worry - it was the 1950s) Shankly went there from Huddersfield and in the space of a few years they were First Division champions - he sort of rebuilt the club/team from scratch - and look at all the League titles and European Cups (5) that followed.
In another forum, a Man Utd fan suggests they were in just as bad shape when Ferguson went there, but I'm not convinced.

I know zero about football so all I can say is that it was great to see a man in his 70's who's been on the TV a lot who isn't involved in an underage sex scandal.

Give it time.............. Stuart Hall has interviewed him dozens of times over the years, so they must have compared notes at some point..........
