Fathers day on the 17th June- I'm out of ideas of what to buy my dad- anyone?
he's early 70's, bit of a miserable old bugger, still has the bottle of whisky I bought him last year, need some suggestions please.

My father (80) and I have an unspoken agreement, I don't buy him gifts and he does'nt buy for me. He is 80 and if he need anything he buys it. Same here. Mothers, sisters and daughters are another thing.

Two glasses: get smashed with him on the whisky in a proper father-daughter bonding moment.

Nothing. What's the point if he doesn't want anything? A card that shows you care should be enough.
My father has always said that Father's Day is a load of nonsense and an excuse for card companies to make money. I just send him an insulting card and sometimes a totally useless item to make him laugh.

Some nudie calendar or photo book type thing where naked ladies are shown as 'art'
Give him some inspiration for a furtive tug.
that's a good image to have in your head

Here are a few ideas
A fathers day card
A fathers day card + money
A fathers day card along with a nice leather wallet with some money tucked inside. Etienner Aigner makes some nice ones for men. Should be a shop there in Dubai.

My Dad is about the same age and loves these catalina twill camp shirts for summer, very age appropriate. Don't know if any of these brands can be found in Dubai but it's just an idea.

He also likes these shirts made out of cotton lawn, I like them too, nice material.

You did mention your dad was diabetic so perhaps he would like a box of hand-crafted sugar free chocolates.

Hi all,
tahnks for the comments- some helpful some not so much!
I must admit its from my side that I feel obliged to buy stuff, I have a terrible guilt factor for being here so feel I have to buy nice things for my family to kinda show its worth me being here as they are asking for my to come home. So whilst if I was in teh UK I'd take him out for lunch or something normal I feel like I have to spoil him a bit.
goonersba - this got me thinking, I might go down a hi tech route with a digital photoframe- personally I hate them but he likes gadgets and stuff so could be an option so am looking into that one.
Millhouse, I haven'tt got driunk with my dad for years- as much as I would love to he can't drink that much due to his diabetes as it may kill him- so possibly not the best route but I like your thinking :-)
Durham boy- a bag of skunk hmm- that could be funny!
Britexpat- he doesn't wtach golf(that I am aware of - possibly because my mum would slip into a coma) but he does watch every football match going, I think he's an arsenal fan- how much is a football ticket? not sure if he could manage a match these days- are the grounds generally disabled friendly/easy access? what else footbally is there? he does like watching most sports though....
weasal- my dad is sexless - I cannot think of him having a wank so thanks but no thanks!
Desert ocean- thanks just looking at the links
and meow- my dad is humourless so thats not gonna fly I'ma fraid
and beaver- grrr!

There is only one thing that a 70+ year old male wants......luckily nowadays they sell it in pill form, blue triangular ones.......I am told.
