Farewell Dandy

"The Dandy, Britain's longest-running children's magazine, will print its last edition on December 4, publisher DC Thomson has said. The comic, which sold two million copies at its peak, has seen falling sales in recent times. Circulation now stands at just 8,000 copies per edition. The last print edition will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the comic and will include a reprint of the first comic from 1937. But the Dundee-based publisher emphasised that fans will not have to say goodbye to Dandy's best-known characters, such as Desperate Dan, Korky the Cat and Banana Man."

Re: Farewell Dandy

To be honest, I am surprised its still going, its a very hard time for the publishing trade let alone the market directed at children, such a shame that these things are being lost, but a sign of the times and technologies influence. I remember my brother conning me into sharing my 20pence pocket money ona weekly basis so we could get the Beano and the Dandy and a soft drink and 1/2 penny sweets- that 40p we clubbed together went far (all on stuff he liked but I thought the sun shone out his arse)! RIP Dandy
