Sorry, this is why British unions tended to kill the industries they where prevelant in. There leadership where motivated by greed and self interest more than the long-term good of the workforce they where supposed to represent. Most of the lower paid workers (usually the ones that need unions most) couldn't afford to pay the dues for a union, much less go on strike. Indeed the only "traditional" unions that survive are in areas that the government (i.e. taxpayer) funds, usually representing middle class people.
However I can think of a few examples of modern, progressive unions but again, usually they represent the interests of people who are already well paid.

Loved them all, as well as Captain Pugwash and Ivor the Engine. Then there was those cartoons - Count Duckula and Roobarb and Custard - very clever scripts that had adult appeal.
