3 months and/or 10,000AED fine for this, isn't it? I couldn't imagine an engineer from S/SE Asia would have earned (and therefore saved) enough to pay up the fine, so just how many cell spaces are there for them?

I think I have worked with all of these fake ones at some point:blink:

How do they get away with it? Mainly because the term is over used, every site supervisor or labourer seems to start with the default title of engineer.

Its fairly hard to fake in design roles but when you just have to inspect some block work or watch concrete being poured its easy to carry it off.

In my experience its prevalent mainly with Indians and Egyptians

That explains it, because how do you fake being a Mech.Eng., Structural Eng., Electrical Eng. etc... These professions require Uni/College level proficiency in advanced Math and Physics courses.

The medical ones are worrying too. Is the radiographer qualified? Are we getting hit with 500x the dose of x-rays we're supposed to be?

Yes, the un-natural, and rather sinister green glow in the dark is splendid!

In KSA I found 70% of my staff had fake degrees, including the design staff,: I went to India and Pakistan to check the staff being recruited. I had people with very convincing degrees from the university of Woolwich. Phds from the university of Panama. I had Pakistanis with one certificate shared between a whole family. They manage to fake it because those with genuine certificates do not know much more that those with faked certificates.
