Explain the Prados, please
 

Looking at Dubizzle.

7-8 year old Prados with 150K+ on the clock are still asking 65-70K AED.

These cars were going for approximately 140K when new.

That's a remarkably small depreciation. Does any other car come close?

I know some...err...(cough, cough) nationalities (shut up Bipat) have a fetish for Prados that even outdoes the German fetish for coprohilia and Syrian refugees. But I didn't know it was that bad. What makes it so desirable? It's the dullest "luxury" car there is.

The prado is the weapon of choice for those jingles who have moved up from their pajeros but a shit load driven by European wives on the school run
In 4.0 litre variant, I rate the old shape prado very highly and don't think 60k for a 7 year old model unreasonable as long as it's not been driven by a jingly. Check the rear view mirror hasn't failed due to the weight of CD's hanging off it. Don't buy a 2.7 4pot unless you like noise.

The weapon of choice for weapons regardless of nationality. Usually seen being driven like a twat outside schools, and hooning it through residential areas, has a mysterious value system based purely on perceived desirability whether new or second hand. Nicer interior than the direct competition but smaller storage space and priced at about 40k more than it's worth. A car that baffles me as its desirability if described to a stranger would lead them to believe it was a Ferrari or similar not an overpriced Toyota.

By the way,

If you see an advert for a 3-4 year old car with under 20K on the clock (including as low as 12K). Is this something to be sceptical about? The cars I'm referring to aren't the necessarily the kind of cars you expect to be heavily driven by certain unnamed nationalities and clocked back on purpose for resale.

You can get a similar range rover for that money and it's unlikely to have been driven badly by a guy with specs, a tash and three pens in the top shirt pocket.

Talking of driving badly, new record today on Al Khail. Sports car behind me with a really loud exhaust so close that I had to shift in my seat to see his face. Honestly must have been almost touching my car.

Blasted past with a cross-4-lane-undertake move straight out of a police camera show and ended up one car ahead....doing the same thing.

Managed to get a good look though, it was a very old, slightly battered...wait for it....Honda Prelude. My Mum had one of them. Amazing.

I agree it's not the best name ever for a car but it's an honest little car at a great price and that's to be commended in my eyes.

Range Rover Evoque is driven by hairdressers
Nissan Patrols are driven by Dishdashis
