Probably, but who knows... on CNN yesterday they had Cairo written as Ciaro for quite a while.

Not a spoof, but a stupid error - and an out-of-date one (the Gates-Barak meeting in the headline was last April).

I survived 83 years, 6 assassination attempts, 2 major wars, and 2 major revolutions. What makes you think I won't survive this? #Egypt

I don't have a good feeling about this.

I know Egypt quite well: lived in Cairo with my family for about 2 years, and prior to that visited many times on business. Although we were there during some violent attacks, generally it was a strife-free country, with Muslims and Christians getting along peacefully (at least in Cairo and Alex).

The estimates of Muslim:Christian mix range from about 80:20 to 90:10. Apart from sporadic (but quite bloody) outbursts, in my experience the country functions pretty much on a secular basis. I just hope that certain religious elements don't take all this as an opportunity to move away from that.

Re: Events in Egypt

Apparently the Saudi government is terrified at what's unfolding in Egypt as Egypt was supposedly the country where the army had the firmest control over the state.

If the army isn't preventing a revolt from happening, will it inspire the repressed citizens of Saudi to turn against the House of Saud? Some may scoff but a month ago no one expected Egypt to revolt and no one really knows what's going on inside Saudi.

Well....if you start seeing loads of Saudi cars in Dubai and Dubai property prices suddenly, unexplicably, jump, you know something bad is going to happen in Saudi.
