Taking from the other perspective: Definitely not Terry or Lescott, Johnson - you would have to be kidding to trust him with something that important. Cole maybe not. Parker not really his strength. So my 5 would be:

We can win games without hammering the ball up the park
We can stop the other team scoring if we have the ball.
These are basic facts that Parker knows, let Gerrard do the wordly stuff, let Parker keep things simple. Striking a good balance in my eyes so far.

I could also jump on the bandwagon and claim that Rooney is shit because he missed the first header the other night.
But why? What's the benefit in trying to make someone very good at what they do look shit?
Have a look at the Charlton goal at St Mary's. It was quality, not just saying it.

Parker and Gerrard have been outstanding for me in all the games so far .
Whether they have enough against the very best is yet to be decided . England have a one dimensional midfield , you need to go back to Scholes and Gascoigne to see any different script .
You need people who run with the ball in the middle of the park to beat the very best consistently .
