Phenomenal story. First I'd heard of it was yesterday. What a chap.
I particularly like the fact that he met him and didn't forgive him but then met him again and did. Not the usual story of forgiveness but a bit more real.

I read the Railway man not long after it came out and about a year later went to Kanchanaburi. When there I came very close to throwing some japanese tourists into the river for being a bunch of disrespectful twats. As a rule I actually like the japanese but having known survivors who spent time at Kanchanaburi i was incensed by the behaviour of the japanese at what is a very somber place.
anyone and i mean anyone who was a prisoner and especially one who survived is a truly remarkable person, all war is hell but the pow's of the japanese in asia experienced a very particular hell.

What's that? Do I hear a resounding no?

Would like to see the movie when it comes out. Is it going to be called The Railway Man or something more intriguing? Colin Firth is a good choice.
