Emirates News

What a pathetic attempt at reporting this so-called news programme on Dubai One has become. All three headline stories this evening were as usual about members of the Emirati Royal family (peace be upon them) receiving unimportant guests or giving insignificant awards somewhere. It's now even more narrow-minded than the presidential news aired by the Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation targetting viewers (like myself I hear you say) with virtually no intelligence. Having no extra-terrestial channels at my disposal, some local news (in English) of genuine interest to anybody other than a camel breeder would be nice. At least I have Al Jazeerah to provide some regional coverage but it's really disappointing that Dubai One cannot raise its standards. Yes I do know that Channel 7 provide some local news, but give me strength...they are equally bad.

Why are you watching TV in the first place?

If the TV is so bad go online...there's plenty of news, and uncensored blogs you can browse through.

:) That brought back some memories, I used to live in Bahrain and remember how tedious the radio news was. The headline was always something like "the prime minister received a fax today!" or "the king made a telephone call!" Glad I was being kept up to speed on all the important issues...

Not really.

There's a vast difference between what a decent producer wants and what the CEO's ego driven vision of a good TV station is. When the two collide the outcome is usually, bye bye to the guy with ability.

A lack of on air talent also hinders them, the link writing and presenting is woeful.

Monkeys, peanuts etc
