I will for sure. Is it close enough (the flight) for a 4-5 day break or is it a bit further than I'm imagining?

About 7 hours. We're leaving early hours of Friday morning with a return on Tuesday evening. Five full days and four nights make a nice break :-)

If you do go make sure you add a couple of days for Macau. 1 hour ferry from Hong Kong Island. Awesome place. Not quite Las Vegas, but close. And culturally very different from HK.

I'd love to go to Honkers though. Gotta pay off the last holiday first.

We went to the HK 7's a few years ago, stayed a week which was about the right time to see most things.

The 7's was an experience, it was an almighty piss-up.

We stayed in Lan Kwai Fong which was a great spot for nights out, the only regret was we didn't visit Macau.

Thanks both.

Did some inquiring with the mrs last night.

Apparently she saw straight ****ing through me: "No, I don't want to go to Hong Kong for my 30th. You just want an excuse to go."

Busted. Now to find another plan.

I've not been across to Macau yet, do we need to get an official tour or can we go alone. What about visas for the main land? Do we get those before we leave or from HK

Thanks in advance

With UK passport? Nope. Just take the ferry over.

Macau is worth a day trip. I don't know if I'd go for multiple days but that's just me. I find HK island itself much more interesting and rewarding but Macau is a decent break.

The shopping could seal the deal...the Chinese love the designer shops, they are everywhere. Also look up Stanley market - we spent a day there shopping and eating/drinking in the bars on the sea front.

Because she's not an idiot and she knows how old she is?

**** it, it's her problem, I'm still a birthday away from worrying about 30. She has to accept this milestone and own it.
