Default Eid Al Fitr

According to Google it starts tomorrow (Tues 30th) but my local sources tell me that it still depends on the moon this evening. Does anybody know if we are supposed to be working tomorrow? At present, we are off Weds and Thurs only.

It's not as if the science exists to tell us exactly where the moon will be and in what form at any given moment...

Popular opinion is that last day of Ramadan will be tomorrow, 30th, rather than Shawwal starting this evening.

Will not really know until 7-8pm tonight - technically the moon should be visible during this hour, depending on eyesight & economic conditions

Many think it will be called tonight...

http://www.when-is.com/eid-al-fitr.asp

Also - if it is called tonight, according to the venerable Lush Index, that means tonight should be dry. However you could have ordered your drink at 7pm and then Eid is called - what happens then? Do they take it off you?

EDIT - Just got this message from McGettigans Pub "This one confused us, too, for a while. We can now confirm that this (coming) Eid does NOT have a dry day. It's the next Eid that has one. Hence: Bottoms' up! #hurryupwithdeclaringeid" - I never knew that - the Lush Index may need amending....

they say the moon will not be visible tonight anywhere close to here, so that means that eid will start on wednesday but you will have to wait until 8ish tonight.

it will only be the first two days, so that would be tues/wed or more than likely wed/thurs.

They're not bothered here at all , every Governmental Department left the building on Thursday Lunch time.

We're off until Saturday / Sunday in the private sector , there's no rush for anything in Qatar especially when it comes to work !

I would imagine they're trying to nick a day off the private sector in the U.A.E .

I'm just glad it is over, I can now legally drink water in public, and get a beer before 8pm in the pub,

Confirmed for Saudi, UAE, Kuwait and Jordan tonight (i still couldnt see the moon maybe they used telescope - if they did then this is probably the first time that the start and end of ramadan was done by "science")
