So I take it you guys couldn't care less when drunken yobs on street corners affect others around them. So are your views on marijuana use also lax? Doesn't do any harm etc...?

Of course I care what happens at home or here. You have generalised that all drinking = trouble. It doesn't, this is a fact.
I detest people who get pissed and want to fight or kick over signs or piss on homeless people or smash stuff up. They are idiots. But those people are generally idiots regardless of booze, it probably just increases their idiot factor.
I'm not one of those idiots. I rarely drink in the week and normally have a few at the weekend but never end up in trouble. I'm definitely not the odd one out either...
I will add though, because I'm being balanced in my post here, that there are people I consider friends (one in particular) who I avoid drinking with because he's a shit drunk and I don't want part of it.

Never discuss alcohol issue with the young, they ain’t seen nothing yet of the evil of this substance. If you want to have a fruitful discussion on this subject talk to older people and they will tell you if you don’t drink then you are actually missing nothing. Many of those who speak of moderate drinking, would rather have their electricity cut off from their homes than to be deprived of alcohol.

Oh no, no booze..., How will we survive and live without it...
Get a grip people, more to life than getting smashed, making a pratt of yourself, not knowing what you did the night before, damaging your health, wasting money, draining the NHS etc..., I say way to go hotel guys as according to recent NHS reports, alcohol linked crap costs at least 3.5 billion pounds and add that to saving the world elsewhere, ..
