Patsy, why do you write "Mosque" (i.e. with a capital 'M')? Are you giving it some sort of legitimacy beyond its justification?

I never write about the parish Church or the local Synagogue...............

Just curious.

Yes I've watched it and it's a lot less black and white than your opening statements...

I noticed you haven't responsed to my statement that their are black EDL members and that Islam isn't a race though...why would black and asian people join them if they're racists?

The EDL is a poorly organised group that has no control over who comes to their demos. They make it very clear and plain that they are not tied to any racist groups like the BNP and even go as far as to ask any members coming to demonstrations not to drink or wear football shirts. However they seem more a football supporters club that dabbles in politics than anything else.

But as I said, they are poorly organised. Every demo the turned up to where there has been trouble is because they end up being surrounded at attacked by socialist thugs like the UAF or gangs of muslim youths. The EDL are about as right wing and threatening as a tory back bencher...and also so plebian and poorly led that they will probably end up being hijacked by the very racist thugs they hope to distance themselves from.

I can understand why they are angry - if you see the ghettos in towns like Luton, the fruits of "multiculturalism", where communities are encouraged to be seperate rather than living in harmony and unity it's easy to see where this all comes from.

A lot of their members were shouting racist slogans and I mention anti muslim in a completely different sentence that was not linked to racism.
Blimey darling, I am not always on the bored and therefore cannot give an instant response..shall I time it until you respond to my post??:)

I saw a few token black and Asians in a group. One of the founder members nominated a BNP candidate in the 2007 elections. He said he was hoodwinked!

Well, they mostly start their demos from the pub and were seen to be drinking throughout, including the organisers

However they seem more a football supporters club that dabbles in politics than anything else.

Yes they do but a lot of their chants and songs are undeniabley racist, even their spokesman said " God bless the muslims, they will need it when they burn in hell" He said it was a mistake, he meant to say "extreme muslims"

But as I said, they are poorly organised. Every demo the turned up to where there has been trouble is because they end up being surrounded at attacked by socialist thugs like the UAF or gangs of muslim youths.

A lot of the violence at the demos was unprovoked, no opposing groups around

I agree but the documentary showed that a majority of EDL members are just out for a fight and that racism and violence were very much their agenda.

Anyway, I thought it was an interesting documentary and I am happy that I don't live in the UK anymore and I have no plans to return there :)

EDL= A bunch of kiddie-fiddler social misfits. I think those of the BNP who haven't been caught raping a kid are trying to make it look like there is more than one group of outcasts with their childish ideas.

Can you hear that sound? It's the world's smallest violin playing a heart-rending melody.

I saw that too. As I said they are not as "black and white" as your opening statement. Are you able to see the shades of grey?
And no need to be sarcastic...I'm not expecting instant responses. I type read and type fast - not expecting the same from others.

Indeed...and when his half black daughter came out to stand next to him I was inclinded to give him the benefit of the doubt...or are the BNP OK with with things like white men marrying black women all of a sudden and I'm missing something?

I don't disagree...poorly organised were my words to describe them. It's no good asking people to not drink or act like louts but all meeting up in the pub. They are a shambles really - what they official stand for probably makes sense but the way they express it just seems to be a magnet for every plebian football hooligan in the country.

Some of their chants were racist - I heard some people at one of their rallies them say unkind things towards black people. As for muslims burning in hell...that's not racist, it's unkind. Muslims are not a race dear...they come in all colours. Also, according to the bible all muslims will burn in hell. According to the Koran all non-mulsims will burn in hell...

I only saw one demo where there was unprovoked violence in the video...when they were corralled into a car park and some of them went off against the police. I also many at the same demo condeming that behaviour...shades of grey.

Did we see the same documentary. Most of the people I saw on the EDL side were just yobbos shouting and singing...it looked like around 15%-25% of them were actually violent...and can we be sure they are even EDL members or just twats who turn up for any gathering of poorly dressed plebs?

Interesting yes. I still feel your comments about it were very generalised, misleading and show how any sort of popularist movement or action in Europe today is considered "racist"...usually by people who have never suffered racism and don't really know what it is.
