I saw one of his trucks here in Dubai last year - I was such an anorak about spotting his trucks - used to count them when travelling to Scotland each summer - this is sad - what a legend

I got to meet him once. Really nice guy.

Stobart has its main distribution base across the river from where I used to live, so I always got to see those trucks. One of the few guys these days who didn't discount the value of branding.

I didnt realise he was such a well known figure in Britain, hopefully his death doesnt affect all the sponsorship Stobart put into racing teams. I was a big fan of the BSB Stobart Ducati Team when Steve Hislop used to race for them.

Weasal- oh yes- my dad was a lorry driver and knew Eddie, always had a positive word to say about him- which coming from my dad is saying alot.

Used to love car journeys as a kid spotting the ladies names etc. See whoever decided to put tellys in the back of headrests has ruined an entire culture of lorry spotting!

Can't say I ever pulled on my anorak and drifted into the lorry spotting scene but I will take your word for it.
I may have missed out

There was a great documentary about Eddie Stobart on one of the UK TV channels last year. I (Mrs hnd) am not normally into 'truck spotting' but greatly enjoyed the series. Especially the bits about the Stobart fan club

Try plane spotting - boffins who can tell you what make, model and the tail fin of an aircraft are - that's bizarre

Below site is excellent source of interest for truck/lorry fans.

BigLorryBlog
http://www.roadtransport.com/blogs/big-lorry-blog/

Section on Eddie Stobart

Check out the oil field trucks link. The only memory I have of oil field trucks was 2 on a lowboy trailer on Electra Road (AD), in the late 80s.
