Also probably because I'm a right Yorkshire lass

Why the liquor ban? Sri Lanka isn't a Muslim country?

I loved travelling round but by the end just wanted to relax and sunbathe! Yes I know I can sunbathe here but just was ready for a break after exploring ha.
As for the drinking- managed to do that whilst travelling around too just got a little set back when bars were closed from 2-5 every afternoon! In hotels it's not the case but else where was!

Going this week. Can't wait.

Nothing to do with Islam - it's a Sinhalese Buddist holy day as is every full moon

I'll second that. Seriously strange place.

Taj in Bentota is great. If you're staying there you really should try the egg hoppers and curry at breakfast - an excellent way to start the day:thumbsup:

for some reason sri lanka just does not appeal to me - i think it has to do with some friends who visited and didn't really rate it.

Thought about the Taj but even being one of their 'Gold' members it was just quite pricey for what is meant to be a cheaper, chill out holiday.

Might go see some turtles and would love to go to a good tea plantation but not if they're 5hours in a car away.

Anyway, might go for dinner. We are staying at Centara somethingsands down the road....which was cheaper because we are going to....
