Default E-Vape

Ive finally decided to start using e-vape.

I'm down to 4/5 cigs a day from 30-40 a day (only day 2!).

Anybody else using this vape ?

I am puffing on it all day - is that normal ?

Good on you, that's a really fast reduction, it took me about 10 days to quit the weed.

You're puffing on it all day JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN!

It's normal to start with, but once you come off the cigs completely set yourself a settling in period, then try and adopt a 'reducing' schedule.

What nicotine level are you vaping at?

I quit about 4 years ago dropping from 25 or so a day to zero in around three months of patches. These days I use e-ciggies from a UK company which have 16 mg nicotine in each cartridge and a pack of 5 lasts me about a week (£6.99).

I no longer have a smoker's cough and feel generally more healthy, despite being 4 years older.

And good on you too!

I'm coming up on 3 years, the cough has gone, the sense of smell is back big time. And yes, also feeling generally healthier.

I started on 18mg, now mixing and matching for taste reasons, but I think I'm down to about 12 mg on average now.

I was given a variety of flavours with different strengths - so usually choose a flavour more than the strength of the nicotine.

I really really hate filling up the tank - liquid pouring out everywhere and fliddly.

I would ideally like to get disposable tanks if they exist !

Silly question time: Do you inhale the vape smoke or treat it like a cigar ?

Good work! Mega drop!

Yeah I vape. Quit the cigs about 16 months ago. Full on stopped. Don't be tempted to mix the two. You will have some withdrawal cravings despite the nicotine you get from vaping as nicotine is only the 'most' addictive of the several thousand chemicals in cigs. Your body will be missing others too, however, keep strong and it will pass quickly.

All day vaping.... yes and no. Sat at home watching TV I vape quite a lot. When in work I still need to go out as per a cig break so vape as I would have smoked. In the car - yes. When boozing - yes. Other times not so often. If I'm honest I don't feel anywhere near as controlled by vaping as I did when smoking (av about 10 a day).

Are you vaping mouth to lung or direct to lung? Most start off at MTL and switch to DTL relatively soon. This will determine what strength you are using.

Tank filling - you'll get used to it in no time and will be able to do it without thinking and spilling a drop. Obviously though all equipment varies and some are better than others. Generally the starter kits you get are pretty shite in quality and design and so I would advise sticking with it for a few weeks and if its working for you investing in a decent set up. I'll PM you a great FB group based in the UK. It's an forum linked to the best online shop (just won the award). Everyone is super helpful and super friendly.

Inhale it otherwise it's not doing anything.

MTL you smoke similar to a cigarette. The nicotine strengths are stronger and you make less vapour. These are most similar to the act of smoking and so what most starter kits are.

DTL you take a big draw straight in and all the way down and then straight out again (no holding). Strengths used are less in comparison and you get more vapour.

Most people move from MTL to DTL quite quickly after deciding they like vaping as IMO DTL has a wider range of gear, better flavours and is a nicer vape.

If you were smoking 30-40 a day, then you likely have quite a high nicotine dependency. I wanted to reduce the nicotine level as fast as possible, but went too fast and ended up vaping almost all the time. One downside is that depending on your tolerance to the particular VG/PG ratio in your chosen liquid, you can end up with throat irritation, even inducing coughing.

As jam25mack says, the tank filling will become second nature quite quickly. Also agree that the starter kits are of lesser quality - and flexibility - than 'proper' kit. I'm not into the business of building my own coils or that kind of stuff, but have a mid-range kit which gives me a choice of coil resistance and variable air intake.

I'm what jam25mack describes as MTL and have no intention of changing. Due to the ridiculous laws in this country, one cannot buy e-juice containing nicotine here; you can vape it, just not buy it. So, I pop over the border or buy via internet. The internet route comes with the good old import duty sword, so this meant that it took quite a time to find a 'blend' that I was happy with; after trying literally dozens of flavours, I still couldn't find an acceptable off the shelf liquid, so now mix my own based on three or four different liquids.

I gather that only now are they beginning to find potential problems with vaping, it appears that the coils can give off a potentially toxic vapour with some of the liquids, and even some of the liquids could contain potential toxins.

Which is why I use reputable kit, and only reputable liquids - UK, US and French made.

There is a lot of fake news and questionable research results funded by the tobacco industry out there. Have you got a link? This is hardly surprising seeing as they have lost massive numbers to vaping over the last few years. The Govt has obviously noticed too hence the introduction of the TPD laws. They must be losing a shit load of taxes.

FYI the British Surgeon General's report following a 5 year study concluded that that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking which probably puts it on a par with walking down a trafficked high street in the UK. This is backed up by you being allowed to vape anywhere outside UK hospitals whereas you need to find a smoking area to smoke cigs. Many other independent studies show similar results...... the ones funded by the tobacco industry report something different strangely enough.
