Dubai taxi doors

hi all

possibly a silly thing to ask but why do loads of taxis only unlock one of the back passenger doors when you get to your destination?
it really bugs me when i have to crawl over the seats to get out because the driver cant/wont unlock the door on my side

any ideas??!

the locked door is the one on the side of the oncoming traffic. this stops you stepping out in front of any cars and the taxi driver from losing a door.

It's also an RTA offence to do so and can result in blackpoints and fines.

(bottom of the list)

[number 141 is a problem for me - I don't need them!]

Left my 141's at the office yesterday. Don't need them in daytime but definitely at night. Was a fun cruise up Al Khail Helmet at 8pm!

101 and 117 are so serious they are the same.

Imagine if you got fined and impounded for 101, then they decided to repeat with 117. If I was a rozzer, I'd do stuff like that for shits and giggles.

Taxi rant

1) Seem to be a lot of new drivers in town who don't know Tecom from timbucktu- bloody annoying when they refuse to take you even though you tell them you know the way

2) Taxis with broken aircon or working aricon but the outlet thing-a-me bob is broken soyou cant direct the air

3) Taxis with seatbelts that don't lock when the taxi breaks ( had a few of these recently)

4) Tazi drivers with no change- grr!

5) Taxis with no seatbelts

6) Taxi drivers who refuse to help you with your luggage

7) Taxi drivers who assume you want to give them a tip and don't even go to give you your change

8) Taxi driver with poor personal hygiene

9) Taxi drivers who say they know the way and take you the longest route possible

10) Taxi drivers who use their mobiles throughout the journey

11) Taxi drivers who proposition you

12) Taxi drivers who try to kill you with their nutty driving

Think thats it - may have been getting taxis for too long!

I agree, I couldn't stand having to use taxis on a daily basis would drive me nuts.

All of these are fixed with the following procedure;

1. Boss, please can you.....*insert solution to stupidity*

if that fails,

2. Excuse me, please can you....(a bit sterner)

3. Listen, if you don't stop XYZ stupidity, I'll ring the RTA whilst I'm in the car with you. What's your taxi number?

Personally - I've got to number3 once. I prefer not to give them a hard time because so many people do, but when you're not in the mood and they're being a prick....number2 is perfect. A stern ticking off
