I will be needing your hubby's number in 3 months time...

You are absolutely correct BM, Abu Dhabi hotels have been taking the piss for the last 2 years, room rates have more than tripled. It is supposed to be monitored and controlled by the tourist authority.

I paid 186 GBP for a 5* hotel in St James's over the christmas/New Year holidays and the service was superb, that is cheaper than any of the 5* hotels in AD with a far better service

When rents come down, hotel rates also come down...And when hotel rates come down, rents also come down...
One is dependent on the other...

Inse. 2 years ago when the hotels in AD were charging 500 for a room, no one lost their jobs. Hotels have tripled their prices and i can guarantee not one member of staff (apart from management) got a pay rise. Its a complete rip off

I agree with you, of course...
Hotels usually up their prices during the high season and exhibitions/events...That is also another factor...
But I think over here the price of hotels went up in conjunction with house rents...

Last week, they were charging 3000 dibs for a room, cos there was an energy conf/exhibition, WTF, London is cheaper????

Huge influx of new people, no appts, corporates taking block rooms for new staff coming in, high demand, triple the prices, greedy little shites

No school places etc etc, bad bad planning!

Oh I agree its a rip off. but 10pct occupancy as was mentioned would result in job losses.
