... do you deny clip 1 is in UAE?

Just by the way - it was just meant to be a bit silly and highlight the bike drift in clip 5 as a little humorous as well as the general impression driving is a bit shit here.

If you don't mind it, and like to dodge it, and be a shit driver apologist that that believes it's our job to avoid shit driving then cheers...

PS Do you change lane from far left to far right exit with 1 second to spare?

I saw a white 4WD driving down beach road like that on two wheels on the evening of UAE National Day, with guys hanging out the sunroof - I thought I was seeing things. Wish I'd had my video camera with me.

for free?

Is that why every bank in the country is advertising car loans for locals?

Or maybe it's just another rumour?

You guys have nothing on Riyadh. I've seen some crazy suicidal driving in my life, but the shabab here take the cake.
Can you imagine if these guys have a easy access to booze?

At the western Region of Abu Dhabi and Certain areas in Dubai, Sharjah and RAK. Cars are given free to locals. Not all Locals get free cars but 70% do.

Autonomy, driving worldwide you got bad drivers. When was the last time you drove on the M1 or M6?? Lets not get far... I agree in the Middle East its absolutely wreckless due to the weak consiquences and can easily get away. But UAE drivers aren't that bad. Most of the shit driving comes from Arab Expats, and Saudis. Original Emiratis respect the roads, and other drivers. Don't take two or three exampls and generalize.

Approx 996 road fatalities in 2009, 10% down on 2008 , kind of blows away your argument really.
This place is awash with incompetent drivers including Emiratis.Accidents resulting in the deaths of young Emiratis are at an all time high and remember this is what describes competence.

COMPETENCE.

1. KNOWLEDGE
2. EXPERIENCE
3. ATTAINED SKILL BASE

which pretty much rules out 80% of the driving population.

It's really down to the fatalistic attitude to life - no need to think ahead regarding that lane change or junction coming up; what will be will be....

Driving in Dubai/UAE is a piece of cake compared with Saudi.

I am sitting here with a group of Emiratis who are laughing at the incredulity of this statement. It is factually incorrect for Abu Dhabi. Only senior government officials get given cash to buy a car and have an official car supplied as part of their job. Not much different to two jags Prescott. The majority of Emiratis in Abu Dhabi at least, have to buy their cars - white, sliver or whatever... but white and silver are the preferred choice as they reflect the heat better than other colourts.
