That's a good point. In most savoury dishes, the alcohol evaporates. Just proves how even more stupid this ruling is.

I've had a few corking sherry trifles, mind.

I bet someone is in trouble for speaking out of turn. The hotels all received written memos stating there was an absolute ban and that they would be subject to large fines if they transgressed.
