Default Du / Etisalat - slight techy question

Dubai slight techy question - I work in Etisalat area and go home to Du connection. In du area my outlook doesn't send emails - do I need a different smtp setting in the Du area?

I am in the same position ie Etisalat at work, Du at home and have no issues from either my own laptop or my work one from either location

do you use your VPN at home? a lot of VPN providers block port 25.

Otherwise, could be a proxy issue. Or, are you using an etisalat email account?

Depends on which SMTP / outgoing mail server you are using.

If you use the Etisalat one, it won't work with Du.

I've taken to using Google's "free" one now (you need to log in).

My work laptop connects to the corporate network through (yet another bloody) proxy connection to make sure we don't spend our days looking at porn or bomb-building instructions.

So when I get home I have to disable the proxy settings, which on a mac, is easy -- setup another "location" under your network preferences. The home setting is all default. The work setting is setup by our IT gurus.

I guess I'm saying it probably has nothing to do with Etisalat or Du and everything to do with your office network settings. (if you work in a big corporation)

Nah - I work at a smallish place. This is the solution:-

use exmail.emirates.net.ae for your smtp if you have an etisalat domain address. this works worldwide - also you have to check outgoing server requires authentication in settings...

Thanks all for comments.
