One of my South African buddies transited through Dubai Airport yesterday and was tested for drugs at security. This was at the terminal 2 building to get the fly dubai back to Saudi. They took swabs from his skin, luggage items etc, and checked it there and then. It wasn't everyone they checked but just some people . Is this a new thing or has it been going on for some time?

We flew to Dubai from Cape Town a couple of months ago...didn’t experience any drug testing being carried out.

At security or the gate?
Regularly get swabbed for flights when going into the gate but asked once and they said it was for explosives.

At security where they xray you and your bags, bodycheck etc. He asked and they said it was for drugs. Maybe they're checking for everything. So it must be a regular thing then.

Never really come across it in Saudi personally. A lot of hash around, and the captagon pills though.

Me neither which was why I asked. Can imagine a lot of people coming unstuck because of that. Especially with the length of time some drugs stay in your system for .

Probably trying to curtail the nut job Saudi's getting off there bracket here on a weekend and getting stuck into the bugle and smashing brasses . Good for the economy though .

Yup. Several acquaintances who have been working in Saudi for the last few months say its literally everywhere..... like its snowing!

Apparently the amount floating around during that EDM event was insane.

Generally get to the gate early to avoid huge queues of people taking shoes off and opening laptops.

The amount of miserable old **** men who whinge at the security guards asking them to do shit is frankly disgusting.
