drinking in a bar on your own

I guess this is more towards the gentlemen of the forum.

I am home alone this week and have resisted the urge to do my usual 'out with the boys, shenanigans as I'm enjoying my fitness program..

Anyway, tonight I worked late and decided to have a rest day and basically showered and went straight to my local.

Now, I'm sat at some posh bar on my own, playing on this ****ing bberry, supping stella eyeing up douglas hurds 10 years my junior who look at me with disdain, evesdropping on conversations of all and sundry and watching a local with 2 british 'hareem' around him perform.

In short. I'm in heaven. Don't even need to talk to anyone.

Magic....or is this wrong...sitting at a bar alone...

Ps the local is blootered and drinking stella.(Without the napkin camoflage)

If I was in the same bar, and was people watching, I would say to my friend "look at that sad git over there"

I like going out on my own occasionally...and I find it can be lots of fun, and you get talking to people more easily than when you are with a girlfriend, or a group of people...
and I love eavesdropping...the bullshit people come out with is better than anything you see on TV...

Moto I agree, that is usually what I think.

I'm on to my second bowl of nuts now. Thinl the waitresses think I'm trying to fill up on nuts rather than order food....they are correct..

MH, you are soo right, but I can't be fecked talking to anyone. Just want to chill, eye up the snatch and have a few beers and then go home and watch a lance armstrong dvd.- real mans porn

I'm a big fan of sitting in bars or cafes alone. I find wearing a beret and scribbling sporadically and furiously in a leather-bound notebook, with a gaulloise in my mouth completes the look. Every so often look at the people around you with a mixture of disdain and pity.

Commander, I have sat at God knows how many hotel bars, in God knows how many countries, sitting having a quiet pint or 2 and watching the world pass by..

Needless to say, I dont think its strange in the slightest...

I don't particularly want the pub 'pal' to come up and strike up a conversation, I just like a bit of peace and quiet, bit of people watching, and for the waitress to make sure its only cashew nuts, please... none of your pistachio shite....

I like to go to cafe's and bars on my own and sit and people watch occasionally too. Even when I'm out with a group, I sometimes just wonder off on my own in a corner and check things out on my own for a bit.

it may sound shit, but I've done it many a time (back home mind), sit with a newspaperr and a couple of pints, it's great, no pissing about, no-one to make small talk to, just nice and chilled.

Good on you chief.
