Well technically the Muezzin shot the guy. After the first call to player, there is another shorter version, said in a much quieter tone, just before the start of the prayer. It is also called Iqamat and the one leading the prayer, usually, does not say the Iqamat. Traditionally it is the person standing just a bit behind and to his right who says the Iqamat.

Yes I appreciate that we use the word "muezzin" inaccurately !
