Does hair gel overheat the brain in very hot climates?
 

Gut instincts tell me that hair slathered in gel would retain heat much better than hair without.

You could, however, create a solid protective and reflective layer with Brylcrem (sp?! who cares!) or some such. Especially go for the black-tinted version for an ever-youthful, natural look.

When I first arrived here, and I had far shorter hair than I do today, I used to use fibre putty... until I realised that its melting (not evaporation) point is lower than the temperature of most summer days and it would often run into my eyes. And boy does that stuff sting.

Not sure about gel though. My hair is too thick and heavy for it to ever hold it in place properly.

the last time i used anything resembling a hair styling product was before Y2K and i guess you're not interested in whether polish heats the brain or not..

yes mate. i thought it was a requirement for baldy's to polish their heads..i am even considering having three circles tattoo'ed on the back to make it look like a bowling ball!

I have found hair gel on sale in the UAE to be rather poor in comparison to what I used to buy in the UK.

The UK stuff, as long as from a respectable brand that one associates with quality haircare products, was basically like fibre-glass after it dried.

Here, even the same brands seem to make the hair sticky and dusty and that's about it.

I am convinced that the offerings from brilcreme, loreal et al here are actually fakes. Like those fake spare parts that come via Sharjah and that something like 70% of cars in the UAE are unwittingly using.

I wonder how many accidents have been caused by poor quality hair gel wilting in the heat and flopping into the driver's face while on the motorway?

Ok Im not a gel lover- however the hairspray here is like glue, when I see cans of elnette I buy a few as not as freely available as you'd think but the crap they sell is like spray cement- nice crispy hair mmm lovely. I have seen a few of the guys at work working the Coming To America 'Soulglo' style product...
