Do taxis get speeding tickets?
I've been taking taxis ever since selling the car and it's impressive how many of them drive in excess of the speed limit. Last Thursday a taxi taking me to a party in Motor City went up Umm Sequim Street at 110km, and US is a major speed trap. Same taxi went through Motor City at twice the speed limit.
Makes one wonder - the fines should be crippling for taxi drivers. |
Re: Do taxis get speeding tickets?
All the taxis in AD are now connected via GPS, and get warnings on their meters and-if the warnings are to be believed-fines. Makes the drive between AD and Dubai at bit pedestrian, but hey ho.

I think taxi drivers pay for their own fines out of their own pocket. I've been in plenty where they'll stick to the speed limit.

I believe they have diplomatic immunity.
Also did you notice if he engaged the cloaking device? |

I think it's a bit like the TILT warning on a pibnball machine. if they persist then they do get fined, and they do have to pay it themselves.
They do seem to be on a pretty awful contract. Being cabbies, they learn where the speed cameras are very quickly. |
