Just to clarify, for those who come AFTER me that may have the same query...
All you need to do is open an Abu Dhabi Traffic file. Go to Traffic Department with DL and Emirates ID. They register your DXB licence into an AD traffic file and you are good to go.

As far as getting the registration done by someone else.. Fukkit, I spent so much time there the staff know me well enough now to jump me up the queue..
