A wave of bitterly cold weather has left much of the country blanketed in a covering of snow and ice - and the deep freeze is set to go on



Temperatures plummeted overnight and severe weather warnings have been issued from the Scottish Highlands down to the South East.

December 30 saw temperatures plummet to -13C in the Scottish Highlands, while last night Benson in Oxfordshire reached -9C.

Last night saw the mercury fall to -7.8C in Pershore, Worcestershire, and -4.3C in Church Lawford, Warwickshire

I feel cheated and annoyed that I missed the Snow and flew back here on Saturday!! GAY

yeah, its the worst they've had for as long as i can remember.
its been a bit chilly here the last couple of days d'ya reckon the snow could be on its way??

According to my father, there have been milimetres of the stuff in Sussex!

You haven't missed much. We had more a couple of weeks ago, ( 2 inches brought the northwest to a standstill ! ),

I live just outside Manchester on edge of pennines, (1000 ft), we got 1 cm last night!

lol I also flew back on Saturday and was hoping it may snow before we left, bitterly cold in Bucks, -5 on New Years Eve, evening dress - watching fireworks not such a good idea! ha ha but the champers warmed me up

Why DO we go on about the most obvious things like it being cold in winter in northern climes? Is it genetic? A curse for giving up our pagan Gods? Revenge for always defeating the Frenc? A lack of having anything else to talk about until Prince Philip stages a coup of the main dining hall at Windsor Castle?

Arctic temperatures are forecast to tighten their icy grip today as the mercury plummets towards -10C across the UK.

So I read that it is 10c lower than normal for this time of year, Global Warming???
