Last weekend Dragon Mart was similar to IKEA today except even more Jinglies. I hate that place with a passion. Even at the posh end there was no prices on any of the gazebos and shades which I am also after as Tock Junior and Tock Mini have pure anglo saxon skin. As I have no idea what anything should cost I just had to walk out as the Jingly was smiling far too much for my liking

I guess if you are a regular curtain buyer then you know how much something should cost but I aint and I didn't hence not venturing into DM.

Of course now I have to pay the dry cleaners at AR 20 aed a throw to shorten them from the standard 3m drop and now I need a Jingly with a power tool to put them up as I can no longer be arsed

Yes DM would have been cheaper and hell it may even be better quality but unless you know the value of something, you have mug written all over you.

I am now wishing I had taken IKEA up on the offer of fitting them for 60 dirhams a pop as no doubt I will employ the most shite Jingly curtain fitter of all time

Mine was no dramas. Whole 1 bed townhouse, as described from DM, 2500 dits plus tip to fitter who spent 3 hours doing a great job (Bangladeshi).

During Ramadan drinking starts at 8pm normally.

You should've done what the bloke downstairs to me has done with his window treatments, he's just covered the window in tin foil!

Now I'm not sure if it's anything to do with keeping the sun out or the fact he's stark raving mad and I should be thinking about moving out?

Well we have 2 main sets of windows that have light/dark curtains depending on summer/winter sun height, and getting different light into the living spaces. We swap them over on the seasons.

It all makes perfect logically sense but guess whose job it is to change them all around every 6 months. Sucker.

Jim'll fix it will put up curtains quicker than you can call to ask them round.

Cheers Scamp, I saw their advert today. Gave in and got the guy who changed the door locks for me to today to quote. 350 Aed for 10 windows. Job done inshallah

Wasted day though as my washing machine from Carreforre never turned up even though it was on the way from 0800. Useless muppets

Only got the upstairs Ac to get fixed and I will be ready to move in. 3 cases of Castle ready to go in the fridge when that finally arrives. Best get used to warm beer just in case

Make sure the ***** actually install it. They didn't bother with mine and did a terrible job on the dishwasher. Had to redo both myself

do you have a foil hat?

tin foil is a great idea - it's a perfect blackout material (and heat reflective). if you have windows where you never open the blind/curtain due to the heat (we have a couple like this) it makes sense... but I haven't done that as I ran out of tin foil.

The dishwasher and oven were installed but **** me they were trying to wire both with the circuit live. I switched it off and they looked at me like I was mad. Also couldn't get to him in time to stop him testing the gas connection to the cooker with a cigarette lighter. Unbelievable. Jingly appliance installers are just mad
