Re: Curry Houses & Boozers
With the move down to Dubai coming close, I need to find new eating and drinking establishments. Will be living at the back of IBN Battuta / Disco Gardens. I'm aware of the Jebel Ali Recreation Club thingy which is fine for an after work pint, but not really where I'd take the wife for drinks or food (although the food is fine there).
Closest boozers I can take the mrs too?
How about for a curry? I'm a real fussy bastard and much prefer the British version of Indian grub rather than the the local/traditional incarnations. I've read that "Brick Lane" is supposed to be pretty good - any feedback from BErs? We also went to "Khazana" a couple of times and quite like it, however it's the other side of Dubai so not likely to be heading there very often.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Brian

No mention of Nawab? No booze but magnificent food. I only know the one tucked away in the corner of that computer mall in Bur Dubai, which is conveniently situated on the walking route between the Regal Plaza (Good Fellas) and Ramada/Panorama, but I think there's another one somewhere down Jumeirah/Marina way.

Went to Hungry Tiger at the weekend and it deserves the praise given my Blue Cat.
Mr Ali is a such a great guy. I really hope it works out for him. Might pop in for tea one night this week before I go back to the UK!

We ordered from them last night.
A bit doddery with the idea of delivering to the Marina and had to have the address texted to them. Thought this might lead to cold food / no show...
But to be fair they showed up 55 mins after ordering and the food was just about hot enough...
The starters of chicken pakora and onion bhaji were very good, the bhaji particularly good. Could have done with yoghurt dips though.
Mains of chicken dhansak and butter chicken were both ok, but not amazing to be honest. Sauces were ok but the chicken seemed pre-cooked and a bit tough.
the tandoor cooked rotis ok but a bit thick...
Decent price.
If the restaurant was a walk from my place I'd go for sure. If ordering I still prefer the Rupee Room mains...
6.5/10 - I'd probably try again.
